Shanghai Excursions and Arrival in Shanghai

 Thursday 22 Februry 2018

We arrive in Shanghai at 7.05 a.m.    We have arranged for someone to be at the Airport with a sign with our names on it.    Have nothing planned for this day but I am sure we will be out very soon after we arrive.    Our room will not be available until the afternoon so will just put our suitcases in storage at the hotel.

We arrived at our hotel and put our suitcases in storage until our room was available.    Very cold here this morning about 5 degrees.      We went for a walk around some streets and then discovered that the shops do not open until 10 a.m. in the morning as they do not close until at least 10 p.m. at night.

While we were in the car from the Airport to our Hotel

Out on the streets of Shanghai after we had signed in at the hotel
This street was one of the main shopping areas very close to our hotel

On our way to the Museum we had to cross this main road and the only way was to walk to this walk way over the road.

Long Queues outside Museum

When we arrived at the Museum there were long queues of adults and children waiting to get into the Museum, Bill was not interested in waiting in the queues went up and asked security as he had read a sign that said over 65 years old were free of charge.     We both had our passports on us and were issued in quickly and through security.    I took many photos here and will post a few of them.    This Museum was brilliant we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Then it was a long walk back to our hotel
We both taken with this shop full of books

Visit to the Yuyuan Gardens our first organised sightseeing in Shanghai

We had to meet at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Shanghai for this excursion.    We arranged to get picked up from our hotel.   We were the only 2 people on this excursion with an English speaking Tour Guide.    These gardens were beautiful.    Pleased we went early in the morning as there were no queues, there were people already queuing when we left.
