Page-Painted Desert - Grand Canyon National Park

Quality Inn Lake Powell
Enjoy an optional flight over scenic Monument Valley. Then, cross the Painted Desert and head through Kaibab National Forest before arriving at the GRAND CANYON in the early afternoon. Marvel at one of the Natural Wonders of the World as you experience amazing views. You’ll have plenty of time to do some viewing before dusk, as your accommodation is inside Grand Canyon National Park.

[Sunday, 7 September] we were to leave early but Bus would not start.  To the relief of  Bruce Andrew managed to get it started after a few phone calls.    We left at 9.15 a.m.

Picked up Monument Valley flight people, they thoroughly enjoyed it.   A group went on the Antellope Canyon Slot tour and enjoyed this as well great photos.

Moved on to Cameron Navaho Trading Post. Some very up market goods, displayed in these shops, price ranging up over $17.000.

Moved to Grand Canyon Entrance, started raining, thunder storms and lighting. Rain cleared went to the rim not a good view but it started hailing and turned very cold. Some waited a while and weather cleared and then went to the rim and it had stopped raining by then, and were able to take photos.

We continued on further around the rim and Andrew dropped us all off to have another look at the Grand Canyon from a different place while they went to the Hotel and dropped our bags and collected room keys.

It was very fine and then the weather turned bad and most who had gone to the rim stightseeing got wet.

At night we went to the stop which was a long way from our accomodation and brought a barbequed chook for tea and pasta and saw a large Stag in the carpark drinking water out of a puddle. Cars, people and buses went by and he took no notice.
